Case Study 3

Heat Stove Frame Welding

Precision spot welding of reinforcement frames required two workers per station in close proximity to welding equipment, creating ergonomic demands and safety risks.

Background

In the production of heat stoves, reinforcement frames require precision spot welding at multiple points. This task was previously performed manually by two workers: one to load workpieces onto the welding machine and another to unload the finished parts. The process was repetitive, ergonomically demanding, and posed safety risks due to close proximity to the welding head. Neuromeka deployed an Indy7 collaborative robot to automate both loading and unloading of the circular metal fixtures into the spot welding station.

Deployed Robot Solution

  • Custom end-effector.
  • Proximity sensor integration.
  • Precision alignment.
  • Robot-controlled unloading.
  • Seamless coordination.
  • Compact collaborative setup.

Results and Benefits

  • Reduced manual labor by 50%, from 2 workers/station to 1 worker/station.
  • Improved safety by removing operators from hazardous manual spot welding tasks.
  • Consistent part placement improves weld quality and alignment.
  • Reduced strain and injury risk from repetitive loading and unloading.
